Joyful Worshippers from Every Nation

This is an awesome quote from John Piper.

"God is pursuing with omnipotent passion a worldwide purpose of gathering joyful worshippers for Himself from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. He has an inexhaustible enthusiasm for the supremacy of His name among the nations. Therefore, let us bring our affections into line with His, and, for the sake of His name, let us renounce the quest for worldly comforts and join His global purpose." John Piper

This is my heartfelt cry--to become a joyful worshipper, to exalt His name among the nations, to bring my affections into alignment with His, and to renounce worldly comforts and join His global purpose.

The power of prayer to transform!

Prayer is not a way of making use of God; prayer is a way of offering ourselves to God in order that He should be able to make use of us. --Barclay

Thoughts on spiritual growth

"[Spiritual] Growth is also marked by an increase in two things—joy and struggle. Faith is often developed through hardship because living out the principles of trust and endurance help us “get it.” So we’ll see maturity in our relationship with God when we view trials and temptations as opportunities for growth." - Dr. Charles Stanley

The Pastor

‎1 Peter 4:11 (NCV)
Anyone who speaks should speak words from God. Anyone who serves should serve with the strength God gives so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ. Power and glory belong to him forever and ever. Amen.

Went to see a play tonight called "The Pastor." It was the life story of Richard and Sabina Wurmbrand, missionaires to Romania. Reminded me of the sacrifice, the persecution, the challenge that many Christians face every day, while we in America enjoy the freedom to meet openly, to distribute Bibles freely, to talk about our faith in public--things we take for granted. It also reminded me to pray for those who are missionaries in those countries, who endure suffering or imprisonment.

Trust, Faithfulness, Delight

Psalm 37:3-7 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him.

New Trip Planning Begins

Yesterday we had a kickoff meeting to start planning our next excursion to Tanzania, East Africa. Our tentative plans at this time are scheduled for Nov, 2012. We had 9 people attend this first session. Our leader John Ricke, talked about faith, and how we need to plan this trip on a firm foundation of faith. We also talked about how faith is blind--for we walk by faith, not by sight!
Man makes his plans, but the Lord directs his steps. Our prayer is that we seek His will in our planning, and that we align ourselves with His desires.

We talked about the team covenant, the application, the upcoming meeting schedule, fees, needs for passports, immunizations, and frequently asked questions about missions trip. And so the adventure begins again. . .

John also encouraged people to start their own personal journals as they prepare for the trip itself. It's in the planning that God begins to prepare our hearts.

God willing, we will be back in Africa in Fall 2012, working with Steve McFarland, and Thane & Charlotte White, who recently became full time missionaries in Arusha.

If you would be interested in going with us, or in helping us go, please reply to this post and we will be glad to see where you can get plugged in.

Mungu akubariki!
